VIRGO: August 23 - September 22

VIRGO: SHARP, CRITICAL HARD WORKING MINDS

WORKER BEE

EARTH

WORKAHOLIC

WORKAHOLIC

Virgos are known for their analytic and detail-oriented personalities. This sign is also closely related to the planet Mercury and its defining characteristic, intellect. Virgos know how to deal with complexities in a practical, pragmatic way. In short, they get the job done. They are also balanced and fair in their assessments in keeping with the Mutable Quality assigned to this sign. Earth is palpable. It is the stuff of physical form. People with a lot of earth in their charts make things.

Plain and simple.

Each earth sign represents a factor of production. Ruled by shape-shifting Mercury, Virgo works hard to stability. This sign analyzes and organizes life; the goal is to build a firm foundation.

Virgo is represented by the Virgin, although this association should not be taken literally. Rather, Virgos tend to take on some of the qualities of a Virgin, things like modesty and humanity. Some might consider them repressed, although Virgins would argue that it's a noble quality, as opposed to a negative one. Most of all, Virgos enjoy indulging their practical and logical side and poring over their projects to the nth degree. To say these folks are good at fact-finding almost understates the case since Virgos revel in their exacting (some would argue pedantically) behavior and are a whiz with minutiae. Virgins are an asset in the workplace as they can be counted on to get things right the first time, every time -- and no detail will be overlooked.

Virgo is the sixth sign of the Zodiac, to be exact, and that's the way Virgos like it: exacting. Those born under this Sign are forever the butt of jokes for being so picky and critical (and they can be), but their 'attention to detail' is for a reason: to help others. Virgos, more than any other Sign, were born to serve, and it gives them great joy. They are also tailor-made for the job since they are industrious, methodical, and efficient. The sense of duty born by these folks is considerable, and it ensures that they will always work for the greater good. Virgo is the land. That’s the square canvas of flora, fauna, dirt, and details awaiting manipulation. Virgo knows the inventory by heart as well as the product of each permutation. The Element associated with Virgo is Earth, and in keeping with that, most Virgos are grounded salt-of-the-earth types. The flash and dash can go to others since Virgos would much rather be humble and easy-going. That said, Virgins do enjoy material possessions and are (dare we say?) picky about what they bring into their lives. Some might even go as far as calling them self-centered, but it's more of a desire to surround themselves with what's right -- for them. This knack for discernment also serves Virgos well in business, where their decisions are usually dead-on.

CRITICAL

HIGHLY ORGANIZED

Have you opened a new location, redesigned your shop, or added a new product or service? Don't keep it to yourself, let folks know. Those born under this sign are eminently sensible and use their critical eye well. While Virgos can be worrywarts, they do their best to temper these impulses. However, if this nervousness goes unchecked, it can lead to hypochondria, that ugly skeleton in Virgo's closet. For that reason, Virgos are extremely health conscious, to the point of being storehouses of information on diet and hygiene. Many Virgos even choose a health or medical career so they won't miss a beat.

Working out is elemental for Virgo if only so they know intellectually that they're helping themselves physically. See, the benefits of exercise are far more important to Virgo than the process itself. The bane of many Virgos is the perfectionism that can get in the way of their usual clear thinking. 'I'm not a perfectionist; I'm discriminating!' a Virgo would say, happy in the knowledge that their taste is unparalleled.

Along those lines, Virgos are also neat and clean, save for the occasional sloppy Virgin (they do exist). Virgins are also reliable and practical and oh-so-useful to have around.

A critical and analyzing nature works in the development of a technique, which allows the individual to manage personal and social tasks with the least amount of effort and in the shortest time possible.  The virgin (apprentice) remains pure by developing a technique to rid the self of all impurities (thoughts, drives, etc.) which inhibit the effortless working of the mechanism, in obedience to the law of its structural blueprint. Ruled by shape-shifting Mercury, Virgo works hard to stability. This sign analyzes and organizes life; the goal is to build a firm foundation. A good educational background is important to the Virgo. Mutable' motivation surfaces in the form of helping, teamwork and cooperation. Humbleness and the ability to work behind the scenes, without complaining, often cause Virgos to miss more opportunities than they should. Since Virgo rules the intestines, worried Virgos need to be wary of bowel upsets. Soothing relief often comes in the way of earth tones, which is why Virgos like to be surrounded by shades of tan and a warm yellow.

The great strength of the Virgo-born is in their practicality, sharp mind, and attention to detail. When merged with their willingness to serve, Virgos become essential helpmates. They can be picky -- so what?

ADVICE

Personal Relationships

When it comes to the game of love, Virgos can loosen up somewhat and are devoted to their lovers, even if they can be a bit jealous. Virgo is ruled by Mercury, and as portrayed in ancient Roman mythology, Mercury wasn't one to sit still for long. This swift-footed god was a bundle of energy, both physically and mentally, and that pretty much sums up the Virgin's makeup. A Virgo's brain is in overdrive most of the time, which is why these folks get so much done. Those born under this sign are also able communicators and use their mental acuity to maximum advantage. All of this brainpower can make Virgos prone to skepticism, and can even lead to the kind of overthink that surely leads to overkill. Thankfully, though, Virgos are also a studious lot and can temper their worst impulses with a bit of careful analysis. Virgos enjoys studying a situation in great detail, whether it's a work project or a relationship. Virgins are truly interested in understanding things. They are in it for the long haul.

THE VIRGIN

In Greek and Roman mythology, the constellation is related to Demeter, the Greek goddess of harvest, or her daughter Persephone, queen of the Underworld. Others associate it with the myth of Parthenos (meaning virgin in Greek) which explains how the actual constellation Virgo came to be.

The History and Origin of Virgo

The Age of Virgo: When Homo Sapiens Became Human and Got Organized

During the Age of Virgo, which is thought to have spanned from 13,000 to 11,000 years ago, there was a focus on purity, healing, and the establishment of order. This period also marked the development of agricultural practices that brought about significant changes in human society. While evidence from this time is limited, the beginning and end of the Age of Virgo, and its transition to the Age of Leo, hold great importance in understanding our history.

  • There weren’t many humans. The whole human population was smaller than the number of people living in Cairo today.
  • Sapiens lived in bands of up to several hundred individuals.
  • Neighboring bands cooperated but also fought. Each band was likely independent. They traded with each other but weren’t dependent on each other for essentials like fruit and meat. They traded “prestige items” like shells and pigments.
  • There were no permanent homes, towns, or governments. Sapiens roamed back and forth across their territory, according to animal migrations and changes in the seasons. Fishing villages might be an exception.
  • They ate broadly: termites, berries, roots, rabbits, bison, and mammoth, among other foods.
  • They knew: There was little specialization of skills. Everyone needed to know how to make a knife, mend clothing, trap prey, escape lions, and heal snakebites. Sapiens in nomadic hunter-gatherer societies were some of the most skilled and informed people in history.

The Virgo virgin should not be interpreted as a woman who is a virgin, but rather as a nurturing woman who is a mother to all of the earth. The word "Virgo" is Latin, and means "self-contained" or "self-sufficient".

PHYSICAL PARTS OF THE BODY VIRGO RULES

Intestines, Abdomen, Spleen, Pancreas, Digestive System

The zodiac sign of Virgo is governed by health and nourishment. It's no surprise that they are ruled by the part of their body that is most sensitive to harmful food. If you belong to the Virgo sign, you may be more mindful of what you consume, and you can attribute this to being ruled by the digestive system.

The Virgo is known for being muscular, resilient, and overly cautious about their health. They are vigilant in taking vitamins, exercising, getting immunizations, and having annual checkups. Their overall health is robust, but they tend to lack compassion for those who are ill. Stomach issues and food sensitivities are common among Virgos. They can take precautionary measures such as potassium sulfate supplements and herbal cures like valerian and motherwort. A diet consisting of tomatoes, dandelion salad, dressings with celery and rosemary, parsnips or beets, citrus fruits, and apples is best suited for them. Virgos prioritizes cleanliness and quality when it comes to food, over elegance and presentation. They are early risers and start their day with energy and enthusiasm. However, they feel most secure when they follow a rutted routine, which includes their food consumption.

Virgo Constellation, Stars and Planets

Virgo is one of the most prominent and recognizable constellations in the night sky. As the second-largest constellation, located on the celestial equator, Virgo is best known for its brightest star, Spica, and its rich collection of stars, deep-sky objects, and exoplanets.

How Virgo Signs Can Thrive in the Age of Aquarius

The Virgo's Guide to the Aquarian Age: From Order to Progress

As we transition into the Age of Aquarius, Virgos will need to adapt their practical and detail-oriented nature to the forward-thinking and revolutionary spirit of this new era. Virgo, known for their precision and analytical mindset, will find the technological advancements of the Age of Aquarius both exciting and advantageous. Their natural affinity for detail and order will enable them to master new technologies quickly and use them to optimize processes in their personal and professional lives.

Virgos' strong sense of duty and service can be channeled into humanitarian efforts and community projects. By participating in collective endeavors, Virgos can apply their organizational skills and attention to detail to drive impactful social initiatives. This will not only enhance their personal growth but also contribute to the greater good, aligning their work with the humanitarian spirit of Aquarius.

The Age of Aquarius encourages a deeper exploration of personal and spiritual growth. For Virgos, this means looking beyond the material and analytical aspects of life to explore their inner worlds. Practices such as meditation, journaling, and self-reflection can help Virgos connect with their spiritual side and gain a deeper understanding of themselves.

THE VIRGIN

The Babylonians themselves called the Leo constellation "UR.GU.LA," the Great Lion, and revered the bright star Regulus, known as the "star that stands at the Lion's breast," for its regal associations. In Greek mythology, Leo is most associated with the Nemean lion, a creature slain by the mighty Heracles (Hercules) during his twelve labors.
